Trip Planning & ItineraryIt has always been a dream of mine to visit Tibet and ultimately Everest Base Camp. I can remember many years ago looking into this trip and finding that logistically it would be a nightmare let alone cost a fortune. Well in these years that have passed the world continues to become smaller and has allowed us to make this trip. The reason behind these web pages is to help others plan trips such as this. It was very difficult putting this trip together because there seems to be so little information available. I think when most people think of Tibet and Mt. Everest they think Trekking. Since we had limited time and were looking to cover as much ground in as little time as possible we decided to go the Toyota Land Cruiser route. More details on this option will be discussed later, but in general this is a great option for those looking to cover a great deal of ground in a short period of time and for those looking to keep the physical requirements to a minimal. When traveling in Tibet you must travel with a tour company. Once we figured this out we then had to answer the next question of which company to go with? There was even less information on Tour Companies than the places we were looking to visit. It seems these companies go in and out of business quite frequently. After endless hours of research we decided to go with Mountain Sherpa Trekking and Expeditions. Their web site can be found at http://www.guidenepal.com/ We decided to go with this company because Pasang, the person we were communicating with, was quick to respond to our inquiries, quoted one of the lowest prices we received, never seemed to employ any hard sales tactics and most importantly was more then happy to provide references that we could contact. I now understand why we received such positive feedback when we contacted some of the references we were given. Everything met or exceeded our expectations. Normally with trips like this you expect something to be over promised or not quite meet your expectations. Not the case. I can not recommend this company highly enough and as you read through the next couple of web pages you will see why. After arriving in Beijing we took the train from Beijing to Lhasa. You can read about that adventure at this --> Link <-- Once we arrived Lhasa our itinerary was the following.... April, 2007 |
